Subaru has launched a teaser website for its new sports car concept that it will debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. By now, most of you know that the new concept is part of a joint project with Toyota, with Toyota’s version being the FT-86.
Known as the ‘Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept,’ we can gather right away that Subaru’s version of the FT-86 will also be rear-wheel-drive, killing earlier rumors that Subaru will stick to its all-wheel-drive roots for its version of the model.
“The Subaru ‘Boxer Sports Car Architecture’ embodies the technology concept of Subaru’s Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car, currently under joint development with Toyota Motor Corporation,” Subaru said in a statement. “It also represents a proposal of Subaru’s new platform technology, build around its key component – the Horizontally-opposed Subaru Boxer engine.”
Stay tuned for more details from the 2011 Geneva Motor Show next month. Until than, we took the liberty to enhance Subaru’s teaser and show just a little more than they wanted you to see
