2011 BMW 1-Series

Scared about BMW dropping its naturally-aspirated 6-cylinder engine for its new 2.0L 4-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged across its whole lineup? Well, don’t worry. According to a recent interview with German Automotive Week, the new 2.0L 4-cylinder will be powering most of the 1-Series and 3-Series lineup.

The naturally aspirated 6-cylinder will continue to be featured in most of BMW’s lineup – we’re guessing anything from the 5-Series and onwards will use the 6-cylinder.

The 2.0L 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbo recently made its European debut in the new 2011 BMW X1 xDrive28i. It produces 245-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque allowing the X1 xDrive28i 0-62 mph in 6.1 seconds when mated to a 6-speed manual and 6.5 seconds when mated to a 6-speed automatic.

The 2.0L 4-cylinde TwinPower Turbo will make it to the United States by the end of 2011.

Why all the forced induction hate? You get better MPG, more power, better torque a lot faster… need I go on? Oh you must be worried due to your terrible experiences from turbo cars in the 80′s rite? Get with it, its 2011! A full two decades since. Much has changed. Id take a turbo any day.
