Porsche Boxster E

Watch out Tesla Motors, Porsche has begun the official trials of three all-electric Porsche Boxster models in Germany.

Known as the Porsche Boxster E, the models are powered by a 29kWh battery that provide fuel to a pair of electric-motors that put out a combined 241-hp. While official performance figures have yet to be released, Porsche says that the figures are comparable to the Porsche Boxster S, which goes from 0-62 mph in 5.3 seconds. No word on how many miles the Porsche Boxster E gets on a full charge.

Porsche says there are currently no production plans for the Boxster E, but we expect it to hit the roads after it goes through a small test program.
