Hertz rental and equipment company said Tuesday that it is launching a new program to sell its used rental cars to dealers, via the internet. The website, dubbed ‘Dealer Direct’, will offer dealers real-time stats on Hertz’s inventory, and lower the cost that dealer’s pay for the vehicles, because of the new lack of middlemen.

“Hertz Dealer Direct is an integral part of our car sales strategy,” commented Mark P. Frissora, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Hertz Corporation. “Dealer Direct provides car dealers with a real-time, ecommerce platform for buying cars directly from our company providing financial benefits to dealers and Hertz.”

Dealers will be able to search the database by vehicle type, location, and availability, and will have a feature that will notify dealers when cars they are interested in become available.
