Say bye to the Dodge Nitro and Jeep Liberty, Chrysler close to a replacement model

Chrysler is close to making a decision on the replacement for the two SUVs dying a slow, painful death. At the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, Chrysler Group CEO Sergio Marchionne said that the company is near making a decision on the replacement for the Dodge Nitro and Jeep Liberty SUVs.

“It’s the most significant hole in our product portfolio,” said Marchionne.

The Dodge Nitro and Jeep Liberty were among the few vehicles that Chrysler did not revamped in its 2011 product offensive.

Referring to the Nitro, Marchionne said: “It needs to be replaced,” but not necessarily by a Dodge-brand SUV. He said that the company has been conducting clinics on replacement models and has it about 80% right.

“Give us about 40 days” to make a decision, he said. We’re counting Marchionne.
