The 2012 BMW 650i Convertible originally made its Internet debut around the 2010 LA Auto Show, however it never showed up on the show floor. Well, today the 2012 BMW 650i made its public debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show before it enters showrooms in spring of this year.

Power for the 2012 BMW 650i Convertible comes from the twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 making 400-hp with a peak torque of 450 lb-ft. The engine can be mated to BMW’s 8-speed Sport Automatic gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission. 0-60 mph comes in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

How fast does the top come down? BMW says the whole operation takes 19 seconds to open and 24 seconds to close.
