2010 Lexus ES

According to a U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filing made by Toyota earlier this month, the Japanese automaker may be considering a hybrid version of the Lexus ES. The company filed a trademark for the ES 300h. The ‘h’ at the end of Lexus models is attached to every hybrid nameplate by the brand.

Reports say that the Lexus ES 300h will use a 4-cylinder engine mated to Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive system. Toyota may use the Camry Hybrid’s 187-hp system, helping the ES300h compete with other luxury mid-size sedans including the Lincoln MKZ hybrid.

If produced, the Lexus ES 300h will be the sixth hybrid offered by the brand.
