Report: GM may show Volt-based MPV at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show

GM has just started delivering the Chevy volt to dealers, and is already looking to the next phase of the range-extended EV platform. The company seems to be putting into place a program to build a five-passenger MPV on the Volt’s architecture, possibly named the Chevy Amp. The company showed a similar concept, the Chevrolet Volt MPV5 Concept, at the Beijing auto show in April, and is expected to show a more refined vehicle along those lines at the 2011 NAIAS in January.
GM’s European chief also said that Opel is hoping to expand its Volt-derived products to include a five-passenger crossover and five-door hatchback.
GM has reportedly registered the domain names ChevroletAmp.com, ChevyAmp.com, and their .net variants.
