Honda to notify owners of 2011 Accords, CR-Vs about possible engine oil leak

2011 Honda Accord

Recent Honda Accord and CR-V purchasers beware; Honda Motor Co. will notify approximately 1,200 owners of 2011 Accords and CR-Vs of possible engine oil leaks as a result of a manufacturing issue. Dealers have been notified that 5,000 Accords and CR-Vs on dealer lots also need to be checked for the issue.

A technical service bulletin was distributed to dealers on December 3rd, and said that customers will be notified in mid-December. There was a separate notice in November that told dealers that excess paint was a possible cause of engine oil leaks by the cylinder head cover in certain 2006 to 2010 Accords, Civic Sis, CR-Vs and Elements, which would be covered under warranty.

As no recall has been issued, these issues are not considered to be safety hazards.
