Small cars are their game, and their stepping that game up – or down, as the case may be. BMW subsidiary Mini is said to be considering the development of a new vehicle for parent BMW Group that would be the smallest car in the group’s fleet.

”We have always been motivated by the idea to build a small spacious car,” Mini brand boss Wolfgang Armbrecht said.

Mini will be unveiling it’s ‘next spectacular idea’ at the Detroit Auto Show next month.

This news comes as Mini is expanding its lineup as the company is set to launch both a coupe and cabriolet version of its new roadster in 2011. The expansion is expected to help the company reach 300,000 annual sales.
