Keeping a car lower to the ground has more benefits than you might images. According Ralph Gilles, senior vice president of product design at Chrysler Group LLC, vehicles by the country are lower to the ground than ever before. Gilles said that Chrysler’s competitors were rolling out vehicles that ran lower to the ground.
He said that Chrysler started exploring why it should or should not lower its vehicles “and there are more pros than cons,” said Gilles. “Lowering the car looks better. It looks a little bit smarter. It handles better. And more important is the fuel economy.”
For the 2011 model year, the all-wheel-drive version of the Dodge Charger, the Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Chrysler Town & Country are lower than their predecessors. Even the upcoming 2011 Chrysler 300 will be lower than the previous model.
Gilles said that Chrysler fans should get used to it, because adding lower profiles will become a hallmark for the Auburn Hills automaker.
