Report: Chevrolet Camaro Z28 to show up as a 2012 model year

It’s something we’ve known for quite a while now but the Detroit News is reporting that the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 will show up as a 2012 model year meaning we should see it sometime later next year.

Sources said that the new Camaro Z28 will build on the nameplate’s success. So far, the Camaro coupe has managed to outsell the Mustang despite not having any specialty models such as the Mustang GT500 or a convertible model.

No official date has been set for the release of the Camaro Z28 but word has it that the model will carry that Cadillac CTS-V’s 6.2L V8 supercharged engine making 556-hp and a peak torque of 551 lb-ft. It will compete head-to-head with the Ford Mustang GT500.
