General Motors Holiday 'Thank You' Commercial

General Motors has released a Holiday commercial thanking the American taxpayer. Here is a short message from GM followed by the commercial posted after the jump.

As the nation celebrates Thanksgiving on Thursday, General Motors is saying thanks to the American people. In a 60-second commercial with no voiceover, serious and comic images of failure appear on screen back to back followed by images of recovery, or comeback, as the advertisement is titled. The ad closes with the words: “We all fall down. Thank you for helping us get back up.”

GM shares returned to the New York Stock Exchange last week in an initial public offering that reduced the U.S. Treasury’s ownership stake from more than 60 percent to about 33 percent, just 16 months after emerging from bankruptcy reorganization.

Check out the commercial after the jump.

“Thank you”? for what? TAKING our money to make up for your lack of competence? or for taking our money and bailing out the union members’ pensions?! GM, you may be able to fool most people, but some of us realize that the TOTAL amount of bailout money you received, in fact, has not and WILL NOT, be paid back to the taxpayer. You failed for 2 reasons, incompetence in design and incompetence in business (dealing with inefficient unions).

You thank someone for having VOLUNTEERED to help you. I do not recall the taxpayer having volunteered ANYTHING. So instead of my “you welcome”, I’ll simply not buy GM.
