Volkswagen Microbus Concept

According to the man that leads the design at Volkswagen AG, there is a strong desire to bring back the Microbus/Camper.

“I would not be doing my job at Volkswagen properly if I was not thinking of bringing back the Camper” said Volkswagen’s design chief Klaus Bischoff, at the 2010 LA Auto Show.

In fact, Bischoff said there were plans to launch a Microbus concept at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show in January but those plans were called off due to cost. “At the feasibility stage, it was decided not to do the project on cost,” he said.

Bischoff said that plans are now back on the drawing board buy the team is studying whether the successor to the Microbus/Camper should be a traditional MPV or one that is more flexible and bolder – closer to the original model in spirit. It is unlikely we’ll see anything until 2012.

    VW heres the plan:
    1. Take 8 seater VW MPV and re-style as in above photo
    2. Once this proves successful (which it will) apply to smaller size Touran/Sharan versions
voila a new range of microbusii
maybe even do one in black and offer to London taxistas (as an alternative to the Merc Sprinter MPV and traditional Black cab)
