Video: AutoCar drives the Renault DeZir Concept

Renault DeZir Concept

At the 2010 Paris Motor Show, Renault unveiled the new DeZir (desire) Concept, which is the first project undertaken by the company”s new design chief Laurens van den Acker. The DeZir doesn’t really hint at a future car – instead it provides a hint at Renault’s new design language. Either way, that didn’t stop the folks at AutoCar from getting some seat time in the concept.

Refresher: The DeZir Concept is an electric vehicle that is powered by an electric synchronous motor that sits in a mid-rear position to optimize weight distribution over the front and rear wheels. The motor gets its fuel from a 24kWh lithium-ion battery, which allows a driving range of 100 miles on a full charge (80 percent charge can be reached in 20 minutes). The DeZir makes a total of 150-hp and 167 lb-ft of torque, which allows it to go from 0-62 mph in 5 seconds with a top speed of 112 mph.
