2010 SEMA: RIDES tricks out Hyundai Sonata Turbo
The 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Turbo is headed to a dealership near you and to build buzz around the new sedan, the Korean automaker teamed up with RIDES magazine to come up with a ‘tricked’ out version of one of the first turbo models off the assembly line at Hyundai’s Alabama plant. The car is currently on display at the 2010 SEMA show.
“Inspired by the Mercedes CLS, the modified Sonata 2.0T features an assortment of custom fabrication from RIDES” team of expert builders,” Hyundai said in a statement. “The vehicles exterior modifications are clever and tasteful, starting with a one-off, fully custom RIDES-designed bodykit that”s comprised of new front and rear bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler and roof spoiler, which all work together to accentuate the factory body lines of the Sonata. Other key exterior elements include a matte pearl paint job from BASF, 20-inch Rennen Modular M9 concave wheels powder coated matte black wrapped in Falken FK452 tires, smoked taillights and painted headlights, a matte black debadged front grille, Audi LED fog lights integrated into the new front bumper and 3M vinyl carbon wrap on the roof.”

On the inside, the RIDES Hyundai Sonata 2.0T Turbo gets an interior upgraded with a combination of black leather and suede with red stitching, along with carbon fiber trim throughout. Sitting in the trunk are two JBL 12-inch subwoofers paired with two JBL amplifiers. To keep things aggressive, RIDES and Hyundai added custom quad tip exhaust with an S-Max front mount intercooler up front.
Looks pretty sweet to us.

Refresher: The 2011 Hyundai Sonata Turbo is powered by a 2.0L Theta II turbocharged GDI engine makes 274 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque across a broad rpm range ““ 1,750 rpm ““ 4,500 rpm. The twin-scroll turbo system design minimizes turbocharger lag and gives the Sonata 2.0T 4-cylinder more power than many V6 competitors. Prices start at $24,145.
