Report: Aston Martin CEO confirms Lagonda SUV production

Aston Martin Lagonda Concept

Around two months ago, we heard reports that Aston Martin has shelved plans to build the all-wheel-drive Lagonda SUV Concept that made its debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. Well, it seems like Aston took the idea back off the shelf and is considering building the model based on the Mercedes-Benz GL platform.

The word comes straight from Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO, according to AutoEvolution. Speaking at a lecture earlier this week in Rotterdam, Bez confirmed that the new Lagonda would indeed be built.

No word on when Aston plans on bringing the Lagonda SUV to the marker or how many they plan on selling. Reports also suggest that Aston is considering a Lagonda sedan based on the Aston Martin Rapide.
