Consumer Reports: GM makes strides in reliability, Ford ranks 10th, Chrysler doesn’t do so well

According to a recent Consumer Reports survey of 1.3 million readers, the Ford Fusion Hybrid and V6 are the most reliable family sedans. As a company, Ford ranked tenth overall and had two of its cars take the top spots in their categories. Though Ford was the top ranked domestic automaker in terms of reliability, Honda and Toyota, including their Lexus, Scion, and Acura brands fill out the majority of the top slots.

GM has shown an improvement, due in large part to the company killing off four brands which included many older and less-reliable designs. Some of GM”s newer models have also been proving to be very dependable. Toyota also surprised some, with a reliability score consistent with years past.

Chrysler, Mercedes, and BMW didn”t exactly fare too well this go around, while Porsche ranked second overall and Volvo had six models that scored average or higher.
