Infiniti has a lot going on right now with the launch of the new 2011 Infiniti M lineup along with a M35 Hybrid, which will debut at the 2010 LA Auto Show. The company is also working on a new luxury electric-vehicle based on the Nissan LEAF.

According to Infiniti’s boss Toru Saito, Infiniti will be working on a ‘super-coupe’ that will be based on the Essence concept car, once other priorities clear up.

No word on what will power the production Essence concept or when it will hit markets. Power for the Infiniti Essence concept itself comes from a 3.7L V6 gasoline engine mated to a electric-hybrid system that runs on lithium-ion batteries. That gives two-seater, rear-wheel-drive supercar a total of 600-hp.
