It was reported earlier this week that FoMoCo is considering a successor to the Lincoln Continental large, flagship luxury sedan. Of course a nicely engineered and designed large sedan would give Lincoln some credibility as a luxury brand that competes with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, Audi A8, Lexus LS and the upcoming Cadillac XTS.
While a large Lincoln sedan may be in the works, spokesman Christian Bokich quickly denied the rumor of a ‘Continental’ nameplate revival.
The Lincoln Continental sedan made its debut in 1939 and stuck around in FoMoCo”s lineup until it was discontinued in 2002.
