Entry-level Maserati sedan on track for fall 2011

Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S

Earlier this year, we learned that the new entry-levle Maserati sedan was on track for 2014. Latest reports suggest that the new four-door entry-level Maserati is now scheduled to debut in the fall of 2011.

The model will compete against the likes of the BMW M5, Jaguar XFR and the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG.

Insiders say that the model will be designed by Fiat Centro Stile under the leadership of Fiat chief Lorenzo Ramaciotti. Sources say the move does not signal the end of Maserati’s relationship with the Pininfarina, which penned the Quattroporte.

Maserati has yet to decided where to build the sedan, however there’s not enough capacity at the company’s Modena factory.

The entry-level Maserati is expected to carry a starting price tag of $68,000.
