Spyker issued a statement today confirming that it is indeed in talks with BMW to about a “possible supply relationship.”
“Spyker Cars N.V., a holding company that owns subsidiaries which produce and sell premium automobiles under the Saab and Spyker brands, has noted recent press speculation about the possible supply relationship with BMW,” Spyker said in a statement. “The Group confirms that talks are ongoing and will give further details once a final agreement has been reached.”
However, Bloomberg is reporting that both automakers have agreed on a deal that will allow Spyker to use BMW engines on Saab vehicles. A source who wished to remain anonymous said that BMW engines will be used on the next-generation Saab 9-3 model, which is scheduled to be released in late 2012.
The insider said that Spyker will announce the partnership on Sept. 29 before the 2010 Paris Motor Show.
