Segway owner dies after driving 2-wheeled personal transporter off of a cliff

British business tycoon and owner of Segway was killed after driving one of the 2-wheeled personal transporters off of a cliff in northern England, West Yorkshire. According to a report by the Associated Press, the body of 62-year-old Jimi Heselden and his Segway were found in the River Wharfe and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eye-witnesses said they say a man fall Sunday over a 30-foot drop into the river in a popular hiking area near the village of Boston Spa.

“The incident is not believed to be suspicious,” police said, hinting that they don’t believe anyone else was involved. Police have not revealed further details about the incident.

The Segway was invented by Dean Kamen, who founded the company in 1999.
