More models to hit the 100,000 unit sales mark in 2010

According to Wards Auto forecast, the number of U.S. market light-vehicle nameplates on the way to record 100,000 delivers in 2010 represent a 39.1 percent increase over 2009. On the way to the fourth-quarter, the sales trend line indicated 32 cars and light trucks that will hit or pass the 100,000 unit mark. That number is up from 23 in 2009.

Newcomers to the 100,000 unit club include the Nissan Versa, Chevrolet Traverse and the Kia Sorento. The Sorento hit 68,835 units through August and has already outperformed its best-ever full year of sales in 2004, which totaled 52,878.

Other vehicles to hit the 100,000 mark in 2010 that didn’t make it in 2009 include the Chevrolet Equinox, Chrysler Town & Country, Mazda3, Ford Edge, Ford Econoline and the Honda Pilot.
