Mini unveiling new concept on Sept. 23, could be a Countryman Coupe

Mini is scheduled to unveil a brand new concept on September 23 and you (that’s right you) can attend… if you live in the United Kingdom.

“The event will take place in central London and include a special guest star as well as Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group Head of Design who will unveil the new concept as part of an exclusive event during the London Design Festival,” Mini says.

What will the concept be? Well, we’re not exactly sure but we are going to tell you that it was recently rumored that Mini is considering a coupe version of the Countryman to compete with the likes of Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque.

Refresher: The base 2011 Mini Countryman is available in the U.S. with a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine making 120-hp and a maximum torque of 118 lb-ft. The Mini Cooper S Countryman model is powered by a 1.6L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 180-hp and 177 lb-ft (192 lb-ft with Overboost) of torque. Both models come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. A 6-speed automatic is available as an option.
