While Volkswagen AG couldn’t buy Alfa Romeo from Fiat SpA, it has stolen Giovanni Perosino, a top Fiat executive, to help head the marketing strategy of its growing number of brands, which now includes Porsche. Volkswagen is aiming to take Toyota’s title as the world’s No. 1automaker.
Perosino, 46, will take on the new role of group marketing communications head, the same role he had at Fiat where he also headed Chrysler Group marketing communication advisor. Christian Klingler, VW group’s board member for sales, said Perosino will help drive forward the “systematic coordination” of marketing communications.
Perosino will rejoin forced with Luca De Meo, his former mentor at Fiat. Both previously worked in Turin while De Meo was CEO of Fiat brand, Alfa Romeo and Lancia.
