Production Mastretta MXT to debut in Paris

Mastretta MXT Concept

Mexican sports cars manufacturer Mastretta was supposed to debut its MXT sports car last year but delayed it into 2011 for some reason. Three years after the original concept, the Mastretta MXT will finally make its production debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show later this month.

Known as Mexico’s answer to Lotus Elise, the UK is described as the MXT’s key market. Mastretta says that it expects to sell 150 units annually with 70 percent of the production being sold in the United States and Europe.

The Mastretta MXT concept was powered by a Volkswagen TFSI engine. The production model is rumored to get a turbocharged Ford Duratec engine making around 238-hp.

The sports car features a composite body and aluminum-bonded chassis helping it weigh in around 1,984 lbs.
