Motor Trend's 2011 Ford Mustang vs. 2011 BMW M3 Coupe drag race

It’s America’s most popular muscle vs. Bavarian most popular sports coupe. The folks at Motor Trend decided to pin the 2011 Ford Mustang GT against the 2011 BMW M3 to see which one is faster in a drag race. Who wins? Check out the video after the jump.

Refresher: The 2011 Ford Mustang GT is powered by a 5.0L 4-valve Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) V8 engine producion 412-hp with a peak torque of 390 lb-ft. Transmission choices include a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual. The 6-speed automatic helps deliver an estimated fuel-economy of 17/25 mpg (city/highway).

    Talk about bang for your preverbal buck. I love BMW and for American brands Ford is it. Now if I had bought an M3 and come up in a situation like this in the real world. I cannot tell you how angry I'd be having to beat off this 5.0 Stang. Lets see some twists!
