Earlier this year, General Motors hired Joel Ewanick as its vice president of U.S. marketing. Ewanick, 49, was most recently vice president of marketing at Hyundai. Ewanick announced today that GM has stolen another marketing executive from Hyundai – Christopher J. Perry, who has been named vice president of Chevrolet marketing.

Perry was most recently vice president of marketing at Hyundai Motor America.

“Chris brings 25 years of marketing experience ““ more than 20 years in the automotive industry – to the Chevrolet marketing position,” Ewanick said. “I have worked with Chris in the past and know he will use his unique ability to integrate strategic and creative marketing activities across all communications disciplines to reconnect consumers to the Chevrolet brand.”

Perry will replace Jim Campbell, who is named vice president, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. In his new position, Campbell will be responsible for integrating the engineering and marketing of performance versions of current production models, as well as all motorsports activities. He will report to Mark Reuss, president, GM North America, and Tom Stephens, vice chairman, Global Product Operation. Perry will report to Ewanick.
