There is no doubt that General Motors’ Buick brand is going through a huge makeover. Following the LaCrosse sedan and the new Regal sedan, Buick is scheduled/rumored to get a bunch of new vehicles including a compact sedan and a compact crossover.
According to a report by Automotive News, GM will introduce a compact sedan next year which will be called Verano. The car will be a U.S. version of the Buick Excelle sedan that was unveiled China earlier this year.
It is also reported that the LaCrosse will get a hybrid variant, a model that is already sold in China. Larry Nitz, GM’s executive director of hybrid and electric powertrain engineering, said earlier this week that GM plans to bring back mild-hybrids as early as next year. While he didn’t confirm which vehicle will be the first to get the next-generation two-mode hybrid system, he did mention that the LaCrosse sedan has a hybrid version in China.
Buick has also confirmed that the 255-hp Regal GS will be produced, but has not confirmed any dates or pricing. It has been previously reported that GM is also considering a station wagon and diesel version of the Regal for the U.S. as well.
