Mazda Kazamai Concept

According to company sources, Mazda has plans to launch a new small SUV/Crossover by the end of next year. The model, which will reportedly be badged the CX-5, is rumored to be based on the Kazamai Concept.

Insiders say that the Mazda CX-5 will be the first production Mazda to be powered by the new generation of ultra-efficient Sky engines. As in the Kazamai, the Mazda CX-5 will be powered by a range of direct-injected gasoline engines mated to lightweight transmissions to keep weight down.

It is also rumored that Mazda may offer three and five-door variants, the first which will compete with the Range Rover Evoque.
