Nissan 200SX

While the Nissan 370Z is one of the best sports cars on the market that delivers the most bang for your buck, the Japanese automaker doesn’t have a model that would compete with the likes of a Volkswagen Scirocco, Volkswagen Golf or the Ford Focus.

According to insiders, Nissan is working on a follow-up to its 200SX coupe that would compete in the compact two-door segment. The model, which was axed in 2002, would fit beneath the 370Z in Nissan’s lineup and will give it a more fuel-efficient and affordable vehicle to lure in younger shoppers.

Sources say that the new model will be rear-wheel-drive but Nissan is still looking for a platform on which to build the model. Using a shorter 370Z chassis has been proved to be to heavy for the replacement for the 200SX.

Why would it be? I would find this interesting. I sure hope that it will put decent power but not enough power so that insurance would be cheap. They could put a detuned engine with a high potential of tuning…a bit like the Genesis Coupe 2.0T minus the turbo.

use the chassis of the s15 and enhance it, it was a super light chassis at only 1240kg with 250hp, the mr18det would be atleast 20kg lighter than the sr20det, and with more safety, the car should weigh 1200-1300kg and have 240-270hp

the 370z is a waste of time, build a 2+2 z with a 3l twin turbo engine with 350-380 hp, otherwise the 200sx will take over all 370z sales
