2011 Ford Explorer to boost model sales, 100,000 units a year should be possible
The 2011 Ford Explorer, which will be unveiled Monday, is expected to boost Explorer sales, however, FoMoCo remains tight-lipped on its volume projections.
“We expect to sell more than we do today or we wouldn’t have changed the product,” Jim Farley, global marketing chief, said at a Ford event Tuesday.

According to IHS Automotive analyst Aaron Bragman, FoMoCo should be able to sell 60,000 units a year. He said 100,000 units should be possible as well. “I think it will be a popular vehicle,” he said.
The new 2011 Ford Explorer has gone from a body-on-frame SUV to a car based crossover. Ford will offer an improved V6 variant along with a 2.0L 4-cylinder EcoBoost model that will improve fuel-economy by 30 percent over the outgoing model.
