Honda has said many times before that it doesn’t believe in electric-cars and remains skeptical of the technology.

“We lack confidence” in the electric-vehicle business, Tomohiko Kawanabe, president of Honda”s research and development previously said. “It”s questionable whether consumers will accept the annoyances of limited driving range and having to spend time charging them.”

However, the “lack of confidence” in the technology is not stopping Honda from offering hybrids, plug-in hybrids and or electric-vehicles. According to a report by Japan’s Nikkei business daily, Honda plans on building hybrids in the United States. it also plans on offering a plug-in hybrid after offering an electric-car first.

Honda plans on expanding its hybrids by up to 5 offerings by 2013, the report said.
