2011 BMW M3 Competition Pacakge

BMW has released information to its dealers about the 2011 M3, including this interesting nugget: technology to completely shut down the engine when at rest (otherwise known as start/stop technology) will come standard on the M3.

While the fuel saving technology makes sense on a more mainstream car, M3 drivers are generally not looking at fuel economy as a critical factor in their purchasing decision.

Regardless, it”s a nifty trick, and one M3 drivers can expect to enjoy standard starting with the next model year.
