2010 Suzuki Kizashi

Suzuki has issued an order to its dealers to cease sales on the Kizashi in the United States as the company gets ready to recall 5,107 of the vehicles in the U.S. to replace the instrument panel center lower box, which the NHTSA says may open in a crash.

“The hinged door of the center lower box located in the front dashboard area fails to conform to the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard No. 201, ‘Occupant Protection in Interior Impact,’ ” said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. “The door may open in a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the vehicle’s occupants.”

Suzuki dealers have halted delivery of the affected cars until units in dealers stock could be fixed. The recall of vehicles already on the road is expected to begin on July 9. Owners of vehicles that may have been affected should contact Suzuki at 714-996-7040.

Suzuki is REALLY taking this center console storage compartment (not the glovebox) hindged door issue SERIOUSLY lol.
I think a recall would have been good enough, seems like too minor of an issue to order a halt of sales!

seems really ridiculous to me, why because suzuki has a car on top?
