Audi has been touting its plans for sometime now about becoming the world”s leading luxury automaker, especially since it has surpassed Mercedes-Benz and taken the number two spot, leaving BMW barely in first. CEO Rupert Stadler is certain that Audi will overtake BMW by 2015, but refuses to get caught up in hype about doing so early. Right now, he is focused on the brand”s growing portfolio and the all new A1 entry-level premium automobile.

Automotive News Europe sat down with Stadler earlier this month about the company”s plans to continue to move forward.

In the interview, Stadler attributes Audi”s rising success to new technologies, the risk it took by establishing in the Chinese market 20 years ago, and a broad and expanding product line.
