Volkswagen AG is working hard on a complete overhaul of its U.S. lineup in a goal to turn around its North American operations and boost presence and sales in the region. The overhaul will be led by the new 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and a U.S. market new mid-size sedan, which will be built at its Chattanooga, Tennessee factory.

However, the future of the Volkswagen Routan minivan, which is produced by Chrysler Group, remains uncertain.

“No decisions have been made regarding the Routan,” Volkswagen spokesman Jill Bratina told Dow Jones Newswires. Bratina told the publication that the Routan and the minivan segment as a whole was “significantly impacted by the economic downturn and has not fully recovered.”

She said that the market share for the Routan remains stable around 4 percent.
