FoMoCo is very proud of its new 5.0L V8 that produces a total of 412-hp – and they should be. However, Korean automaker Hyundai has just ‘released’ details about their new 5.0L Tau V8 engine, which apparently makes 429-hp.

The unofficial estimates was provided to media that was recently in South Korea to test drive the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and the Hyundai Sonata 2.0T. The new 5.0L Tau V8 is essentially a reworked, bored-out and direct-injection version of the 375-hp 4.6L Tau V8 currently found in the Genesis sedan.

So where will Hyundai put this new 5.0L Tau V8? Word has it that it will find its way under the next Genesis sometime in mid-2011 and the Equus, which will hit dealers later this year. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe? We’re not sure yet but if Hyundai really wants to give Mustang fans a better deal – we wouldn’t doubt it.
