Cadillac Sixteen Concept

Rumors of a flagship, rear-wheel-drive Cadillac have started again and surprisingly, CEO Ed Whitacre, who recently assumed control of global product planning, is pushing for the model.

According to CARandDRIVER, Whitacre has instructed the Caddy brand to build a full-size flagship that will sit above the CTS and the upcoming XTS sedan. No official word on what type of vehicle this will be but insiders say the model will use a stretched version of the CTS”s Sigma platform.

On the other end, work continues on the Cadillac ATS, a BMW 3-Series fighter. That model will be based on a shortened version of the Sigma platform called Alpha.

Note: Pictured above is the Cadillac Sixteen Concept, which was unveiled in 2003. The model was “hypothetically” equipped with a 13.6L V16 concept engine that made 1,000-hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque.

That doesn't make sense. I though the XTS was big enough. This new Caddy doesn't seem to be a good fit.

Evidently the promise of “The New GM's” product planning being in the hands of true car-guys has been thrown out the window… Can't wait to see a 2012 version of the Cadillac Cimarron!

CadillacKurt, your comment is so stupid I can't even begin to point out what's wrong with it.
