Mini Coupe coming in Aug. 2011, Mini Roadster to follow

The Mini Coupe and the Mini Roadster will both enter production starting next year at the company’s Oxford plant. Mini Vice President Jim McDowell confirmed that both models will come to the U.S. starting with the Coupe in August 2011.

“The Coupe will arrive six months after the Countryman, and the Roadster 12 months after the Countryman,” McDowell told journalists during a question-and-answer session following his speech.

The Mini Countryman will go on sale in the U.S. next February.

The Mini Coupe is designed to fit a 1.6L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder ““ 208-hp / 192 lb-ft. The Roadster is designed to carry a 1.6L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder with 175-hp / 177 lb-ft of torque.
