Following the Buick Excelle GT hatchback, Shanghai General Motors has unveiled the new Excelle compact sedan. The new compact Buick sedan will come to the United States next year and will reportedly be called the 2012 Buick Verano.
Based on the GM Delta II platform that underpins the Opel Astra and the Chevrolet Cruze, the Buick Excelle sedan is powered by a 138-hp 1.8L 4-cylinder engine and a 181-hp 1.6L 4-cylinder.
Sales of the Buick Excelle sedan in China will start on June 23. Buick also has plans to add a small crossover in 2012, which may be sold as the Buick Encore.
