Three days ago it was reported that Jaguar will be expanding its XF lineup and will be adding a new F-Type. However, the future of the long-rumored Jaguar supercar remains vague. Company boss Mike O”Driscoll suggested that a supercar is in the works at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, but we haven’t heard anything since then.
Sources say that the car, if built, will compete with the likes of the Audi R8 and will be based on an all-new aluminum chassis. Power for the Jaguar supercar is rumored to come from an upgraded version of the 5.0L supercharged V8 from the XFR. With that type of power, the Jaguar supercar should run from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds.
According to AutoExpres the car has been put on hold for now as engineers and designers focus on the new F-Type.
