BMW M division boss confirms M version of 1-Series, could be called 135i M

We’ve been hearing rumors of 1-Series based M model for some time and today BMW has officially confirmed the car’s existence. Speaking to AutoNews BMW M Division boss Dr. Kay Segler confirmed that the 1-Series based M model will arrive during the second quarter of 2011.
Segler did not confirm the name of the new M car. We’ve previously referred to the car as the M1 but insiders say that the M1 name will most likely remain attached to the original supercar from 30 years ago. German magazine AutoNews refers to the car as the 135i M, however nothing is official as of yet.
Power for the M version of the 1-Series will come from an upgraded version of the N55 engine from BMW”s M division making around 345-hp.
