Ferrari boss: Developing hybrids means we can protect V12 engines

Ferrari and Lamborghini are both expected to start adopting turbocharging for the next-generation of V8 models as both supercar automakers look to cut fuel-economy figures of their lineup due to strict government regulations. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the end of naturally aspirated V12 engines.

Ferrari boss Amedeo Felisa has hinted that the next Enzo will continue to feature a V12 engine, which may be mated to an electric motor.

“That is why we are developing hybrid technology,” said Felisa. “Hybrid means we can protect the V12.”

It was recently reported that the upcoming special-series Enzo will carry a twin-turbo V8.
