Lexus LFA vs. Nissan GT-R

Since Honda has shelved plans to build the next-generation Honda / Acura NSX, there are only two supercar kings that are currently fighting for the right to lead in Japan – the Lexus LFA and the Nissan GT-R. So what happens when you bring both to a drag race? The folks over at Motor Trend decided to find out.

Refresher:

  • Nissan GT-R: Power for the Nissan GT-R comes from a 3.8 L twin-turbocharged DOHC V6 engine that produces 473 horsepower with a peak torque of 430 lb-ft. 0 to 62 mph comes in at 3.5 seconds with a top speed is limited at 193-mph.
  • Lexus LFA: Power for the Lexus LFA comes from a 4.8L V10 that makes 552-hp with a maximum torque of 354 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox, the LFA goes from 0-60 mph with a time of just 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 202 mph.

    I would still take the GTR as most street races are won by the next red light. It would interesting to see what a 60-100 mph times would be between the two cars. Also, the few tenths difference between the cars cannot justify the $400K price on the Lexus. Godzilla rules!

    who would spend over 300 grand to have a very slightly better car compared to the gtr. Lexus, you failed!

    those are some slow quarter-miles. i have a friend who can consistently run 11.8's in his daily driver stock Z06. i also know a guy who will do 11.6's all day long in his dad's GTR. i'd like to have seen multiple runs to see how much the times changed. i just don't believe, with all of that engineering, that the LFA is that slow…
