Chevrolet Camaro holds muscle car sales lead over Ford Mustang in 2010

Ford Mustang / Chevrolet Camaro

Muscle car buyers aren’t like shoppers shopping in a different car segment. They are always well-informed, up-to-date on what’s coming out next and always want more horsepower than their muscle-car enemies. With that in mind, Ford Mustang sales dropped a whopping 33.2 percent in April to 5,145 due to the fact that many are waiting for the 305-hp Ford Mustang V6 or the 412-hp Ford Mustang GT 5.0L V8.

As a result, the Chevrolet Camaro pulled ahead in the sales competition between Detroit’s new-generation muscle cars. GM sold a total of 9,150 Camaros in April. Through April, Camaro sales were at 29,907, while the Mustang was 20,836.

Chrysler’s Dodge Challenger had a record April but year-to-date sales lag way behind its competitors at 10,752.
