Toyota says 3 million recalled vehicles have been completed

Toyota announced yesterday that it has successfully completed 3 million recalls on its Toyota and Lexus brand vehicles. The breakdown for three recalls, includes:

  • 1.6 million to address the potential for sticking accelerator pedals,
  • 1.5 million to address the potential for floor mat pedal entrapment, and
  • 115,000 program updates to the anti-lock brake systems (ABS) in certain 2010 Prius and Lexus models.

“More than 732,000 vehicles have received both the floor mat and sticking pedal modifications, bringing the total number of recalled vehicles that have been serviced to approximately 2.4 million,” Toyota said in a statement.

“Toyota and Lexus dealers continue to make significant progress in servicing customers” recalled vehicles as quickly and conveniently as possible, and we appreciate their extraordinary efforts,” said Steve St. Angelo, Toyota Chief Quality Officer for North America.

Toyota said that approximately 70 percent of the sticking pedal modifications have been completed on the 2.3 million vehicles that have been recalled. That comes out to an average of more than 120,000 remedies performed per week. It said that 27 percent of the floor mat entrapment recalls have been completed on the 5.4 million vehicles that were recalled for the issue, and more than 75 percent of the ABS program updates have been performed on the 147,500 Prius and Lexus models that were recalled.
