From L to R: Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara, Rutledge Wood

The History Channel and BBC Worldwide announced today that they have begun work on the new American version of TopGear. Former plans to bring on Adam Carolla and Eric Stromer have been dropped and the show will now be hosted by comedian Adam Ferrara, NASCAR racing analyst Rutledge Wood and stunt driver, X-Games rally gold medallist Tanner Foust.

The History Channel will air the first series of ten episodes this fall, though exact dates have yet to be finalized. Also, no word on whether the U.S. will get its own version of The Stig.

We are eagerly awaiting Jeremy Clarkson’s comment on this.

Adam Carolla was dropped as the host for American verison Top Gear because of Filipino communities' demand to boycott his show due to his umprofessional and irresponsible comments to Manny Pacquiao, Filipino people and their country Philippines.

I believe AC was reprimanded by CBS radio, his employer. What a big LOSER! That's what you get when you don't think twice before speaking out.

Not just that Suzette, but this is America and that means there needs to be a minority. To make up for it they should have a Black Stig Played by a Black Guy.

i'm gonna give it a chance….can't see them being better than the British version. it definitely seems to be aimed at a younger crowd by the looks of the hosts

You obviously never have watched the British version of Top Gear. Jeremy Clarkson is renown for running his mouth. Part of the show is COMEDY. I'd rather have Top Gear with the occasional over the top joke rather than 1 hour of car bores yapping. The History Channel has only put out junk recently and I don't have high hopes for this show.

True…. The Top Gear America dropping of Adam Carolla immediately limited it’s viewership, and entertainment value, by a factor 10X. Car guys and gear heads, who are the target audience, do not care about being PC and pleasant. That’s why Top Gear on BBC is the most watched show in the world right now, I believe. Very disapointed about Adam. I believe they’ll bring him back after the first few shows flop.

This show will be HORRIBLE !! The worse show next to That’s 80 show .
No one remebers it because of how bad it is! Leave this show to Jeremy James and Richard because American cars suck ass and are all the same and boring and Britain is brilliant with Top Gear .. but here comes America and its greed to mess up a good thing! The host will also suck!!

Just saw a TV spot announcing this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42-N7-HyG8A) and I’m really glad they are bringing this to a channel I actually get (although the History channel seems like an odd fit, but I digress). Anyway, interesting to see if this Top Gear gets too ‘Americanized” or if they stick with what made it successful. Also I thought it was great they used the song “Time For Some Action” by NERD in the commercial.
