As huge fans of Audi’s high-performance quattro vehicles, we were pretty disappointed to learn that the new Audi RS5 will not be coming to the United States. Well, it seems like Audi may have changed its mind and the new RS5 may be headed to the stateside after all.

Apparently the growing popularity of the RS5 in the United States has Audi second-guessing itself. When (and if) the Audi RS5 comes to the stateside, it will be the first RS-car to be shipped stateside since the departure of the slow-selling RS4 Cabriolet in 2008.

U.S. sales of the Audi RS5 should begin sometime in the summer of 2011.

Refresher: Power for the 2011 Audi RS5 comes from a 4.2L naturally aspirated V8 making 450-hp and a maximum torque of 317 lb-ft. Mated to a standard 7-speed S tronic, the 2011 RS5 goes from 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph (electronically governed).

I'm an AUDI fan; one way before the recent emphatic embrace of the company has occurred by enthusiasts and the public alike. Yet,the only way it's going to take sales away from cars just as capable in the segment is if they offer a 6 speed manual.
